Hulk Tony

Tony had been angry his whole life so turning into a literal rage monster was probably inevitable. Hadn't made it any easier of a transition. Had probably just made it harder.

It derailed his life completely. He'd had to give up a lot. Most human contact, for a long time. Classic rock. Alcohol. Arguing with people (which had perhaps been his favorite pastime).

He was now the guy who wore cozy sweaters and meditated while listening to soothing symphonies, curled in arm chairs. He'd been all sharp angles before. Had prided himself on it. It made him feel a bit like a baby, this softening of himself. It'd been years and he was still learning how he fit into himself these days.

Tony was well aware there was a perpetual rain cloud hanging over him like he was a sad cartoon. He was trying, and he really was doing a lot better these days, but it was harder some days than others.

He'd always found it easier to avoid his problems than face them head-on, so it shouldn't have surprised anyone when he fucked off to space for a while.

He still sort of wasn't sure he'd made the right decision, coming back.

But he was figuring out how he fit into the team now, and much as he didn't want to admit it, he'd missed them. Some more than others.

Bruce still caught the corners of his eyes and pulled his gaze towards him. Coaxed the corner of his mouth up in a smile with a well time raised eyebrow and a look, when their teammates were squabbling or otherwise being ridiculous. Bruce didn't have to say anything for Tony to get it - their shared fond exasperation for these idiots they called friends.

Some days he didn't know what he was doing here. But others... Yeah. He was glad he'd come back.

Bucky Barnes - Baby Hawkeye

There's an unwritten list of all the expectations put on Bucky by his parents.

He should be:

• straight, or at the very least definitively gay (in an interesting, not too flamboyant, look-how-supportive-we-are-of-our-gay-son kind of way), not this nebulous in-between they're certain is a phase
• ‎sensible and responsible
• ‎around when convenient and otherwise mostly non-existent
• ‎a future politician, or doctor, or lawyer, or Wallstreet asshole

Bucky Barnes, at 19, does not meet these expectations. His bisexuality is not a phase. And he will gladly (and loudly) argue with anyone - his parents, their snobby friends, random strangers at an expensive charity gala - about bi erasure and why it sucks.

He's never really had to be responsible for anything, but honestly, if you ask him, that's his parents' fault anyway. They're the ones who've bailed him out of any hot water he's found himself in, and handwaved consequences. He can't remember ever being grounded. His parents mostly just yell at him when they're disappointed, and threaten to cut off his credit cards without ever actually following through. Then they forget he exists as soon as he's out of their presence.

He has absolutely zero intention of following any of the career paths his parents "subtly" tried to push him towards. Bucky actually has zero interest in any career, other than a vague idea of maybe being a concert cellist at some point down the road. He's 19, he has his whole life ahead of him. Why pigeonhole himself now? He's content living off his trust fund for a while.

And shooting bad guys with arrows while wearing purple spandex.

Sure, it's not the most normal of hobbies, but it beats sitting on the couch watching Netflix.

Bruce - that other genius billionaire playboy philanthropist

Your resident trust fund fuck boi orphan. Business finance major with a minor in criminology. Generally thought to be "wasting his potential". The Daily Bugle

With the breaking news SHIELD released yesterday, there is a question we should all be asking ourselves: Who is James Barnes?

SHIELD wants us to believe he's a victim, a tragedy. That he sacrificed for this country and his decades-long murder spree wasn't his fault. Hydra traumatized him. They brainwashed him. He wasn't responsible for his own actions.

Here are the facts: Barnes disappeared in 1945, in the midst of an operation with the Howling Commandos. Their target? A train swarmed with Hydra operatives and Hydra explosives. Barnes falls off the train, presumably fighting Hydra. He doesn't pop back up until 70 years later, working for them.

There was only one witness to Barnes' supposed death - Steve Rogers. Captain America. The same man who had gone against orders to rescue Barnes from a Hydra facility in Italy. (They don't talk about that much in the history books, do they? Barnes. Captain America. Azzano, Italy. Look it up.) The man who found him in DC, decades later. The man who essentially said "screw you" to the world, when the Sokovia Accords were drawn up, and immediately went on the run with Barnes. The man who now, apparently, has married him.

Are the American people expected to be naive enough to believe that to be mere coincidence?

Let's put forth an alternative theory.

James Barnes and Steve Rogers knew each other as children. They grew up together. Perhaps were indoctrinated together. Isn't it possible that this was the plan all along?

Think about it. We know Captain America thwarted some kind of terror attack when he crashed those helicarriers into the river, but how do we know it? Because that's the story SHIELD told us. The very organization that had been infested by Hydra since it's inception.

We know James Barnes fell from a train in the Alps in 1945, but how do we know it? How do we know he didn't disappear with the Hydra operatives he later ended up working for? Because Captain America told us.

How do we know James Barnes is "cured", and no longer wants to do evil? How do we know he won't turn against the public? How do we know Captain Rogers won't abandon his post and go against orders when it's convenient for him to do so or when his killer spouse is at risk?

How do we know Barnes and Rogers haven't been bad seeds since the beginning? That crashing the helicarriers into the Potomac wasn't the attack all along? Should we SHIELD's word for it?

This publication will remain skeptical and vigilant, until provided with proof to back up these claims of innocence.

Official SHIELD Statements

- Agent Natasha Romanoff of SHIELD and Dr. Bruce Banner, an affiliate of the Avengers Initiative, take this opportunity to formally confirm the rumors of their engagement. They are to be married in a private ceremony among close friends in the coming New Year.

- Sargent James Barnes, most famously known as Captain America's childhood friend, has been released from SHIELD custody following a thorough investigation into his activities since he was reported KIA in 1945. The organization has found ample evidence to prove that Barnes did, indeed, serve as an assassin for the KGB and the international criminal organization Hydra, as indicated in the files released by Agent Natasha Romanoff following the Incident at the Potomac that resulted in the restructuring of SHIELD several years ago. However, the investigation determined that he did so under extreme duress and was mentally incapable of conscious decision making.

Since his surrender to the Wakandan government (who cleared him of all charges relating to the death of their current ruler's father), Barnes has undergone experimental procedures and therapies to repair the neurological trauma and mental conditioning he experienced during his years as a Prisoner of War. Barnes has made marked improvements over the past several months and has shown no signs of aggressive behavior or regression back into the Winter Soldier persona implanted in his psyche by Hydra. Barnes has been released with minimal SHIELD supervision, into the custody of Captain Steven Rogers.

Now able to proceed with their lives together openly thanks to public policy changes regarding equality since their time in the military during WWII, Captain Rogers and Sargent Barnes would like to announce their recent marriage.

The Rogers-Barnes appreciate your respect for their privacy at this time as they navigate Sargent Barnes' recovery and reintegration into society.
